This last weekend saw the return of New York Comic Con, but I wasn’t ready to attend again, given that it’s probably the most crowded event I’ve ever attended and all, and still risky, I’m afraid. Anyway, here are some fond memories from the last couple NYCCs, now animated in 3D!

This is a great moody shot of my Superman Beyond cosplay at NYCC 2018, taken by @jmw_photography_59. This one I animated using a depth map made with MiDaS v3 AI, along with StereoPhoto Maker and FFMPEG.

This is an awesome classic X-Men/X-Force Cable cosplay by Zia Stark @ziacosplay at NYCC 2019. This was originally a stereophoto taken on an old LG Thrill, and animated with a depth map extrapolated using SPM + DMAG.

Filled with latent anger at the destruction of his homeworld, Superman stood by silently and watched humans desecrate and decimate their own world for decades… until the day the red ring found him.

This is my Red Lantern Superman mashup cosplay, originally shot by Nolan Falcone @outershellpictures at NYCC 2018, and converted by me using the MiDaS AI. The anaglyph version has a β€˜flashing’ heat vision effect.

Here is @aliensinmyattic’s quite cool and creepy Alien Bug, seen at NYCC 2019! Animated from a stereophoto, using SPM + DMAG.
This is @hendoart’s great PS4 Black Cat cosplay at NYCC 2019, once again based on a stereophoto.

Following that is an awesome Cobra cosplay team, also at NYCC 2019: L to R, Crimson Guard (@rdmncosplay), Crimson Cobra Commander (@zanygeeks), and Baroness (@nayalikcosplay), animated using the same method.

Part 2 coming soon…
