Here are some first stereos testing my new catadioptric stereo rig, aka β€˜mirror and phone holder,’ haha. This first item is a stereovideo of a fly, recorded in real-time and with frames aligned by SPM. After my initial mixed results with catadioptric video (e.g. these), I’m happy this works rather well!

Following the video are three shots, with video zoom-in, zoomed-in, and full versions of each. Compared to holding the mirror by hand, even these stills are significant improvements, with the focus difference between the direct and reflected images noticeably lessened. So all in all, this is big win.

Next I will post stereos of the rig itself and its components, for anyone interested in reproducing it themselves.
