I’ve been posting less for a few days because I was working on another video for the NYSA / 3D world at large. But here’s a look at a random recent timesuck, which has a 3D tie-in… These are all synthetic portraits I created with Artbreeder, a fascinating website which uses genetic algorithms, AI, generative adversarial networks, and guided evolution principles to create art, in the categories of general, portraits & anime portraits, characters, landscapes, ‘sci bio art,’ album covers, and furries.

It’s pretty neat to tinker with the ‘genes’ behind a picture, and to crossbreed, mutate, evolve them, and to track their lineages—ancestors and descendants. In the portrait category, the images range from very ‘concept art’ and painterly to photorealistic. AND, there happens to be a yaw setting, which (imperfectly) rotates the heads—thus I was able to make these (imperfect) 3D pairs. (The rotation does not work very well with the more photorealistic portraits, so only including a couple.)

But pretty neat, right?? Do you have (a) favorite(s) among these?
