This year’s Atlantic hurricane season is the 2nd most active ever recorded, and it isn’t even over. 17 storms and counting have broken records for earliest formation in the year than any other season since reliable records began in 1851. It is the first time 7 named tropical cyclones have made landfall in the continental US before September.

According to the National Climate Assessment (GlobalChange.gov): “The intensity, frequency, and duration of North Atlantic hurricanes, as well as the frequency of the strongest hurricanes, have all increased since the early 1980s. Hurricane intensity and rainfall are projected to increase as the climate continues to warm. […] The recent increases in activity are linked, in part, to higher sea surface temperatures in the region that Atlantic hurricanes form in and move through.”

The evidence of human-caused global warming is overwhelming and now confronting our daily lives, in the form of hurricanes, wildfires, droughts, floods, heat waves, air pollution, and more. Shame on anyone, and especially public officials, who ignore this to ALL our peril. Vote them the F out!!

I extracted/assembled these 3D shots from drone footage by CharlesPeekWX on Twitter, taken today in Orange Beach, AL, after Hurricane Sally. My thoughts are with those affected in AL, FL, and elsewhere, as well as those suffering in the CA wildfires.
